How to complete Spirit Hunters in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To complete the Spirit Hunters task, you need to investigate the Here and There spirit with Lumiere and perform a Binding Spell. This is Lumiere’s toughest friendship quest, so here’s a full walkthrough of all key steps to help you through it.
Meet the investigation crew in Beast’s castle
First up, you need to venture to the Beast’s castle to meet up with the investigation squad. You need to visit his castle in the valley, not the Realm version of it. Like all villager homes, this one can be placed anywhere, so its location varies for every player. Once you’re inside the castle, talk to Lumiere and the rest of the group, including Cogsworth, Tiana, and Belle.
Meet Cogsworth in the Mystical Cave
Cogsworth felt a strange cold breeze in the Mystical Cave on Dazzle Beach, so head there next to continue the investigation. You can find the Mystical Cave near the east end of the beach, tucked into the rock wall by the ramp that leads up to the Peaceful Meadow biome.
Follow paw tracks to find the clue
Once you’re inside the Mystical Cave, chat with Cogsworth, then put on the Masquerade Mask you previously acquired during the Belle, Book, and Candle quest. Follow the strange paw prints down the ramp in the cave, stopping to clear away each set of tracks you come across.
At the very bottom, you’ll find a glowing Night Thorn that looks similar to the one you found during the Here, There, and Everywhere quest. Clear it away to obtain a Frozen Red Passion Lily, then bring this strange item back to Cogsworth.
Meet Tiana in the Vitalys Mines
Tiana saw some strange blue lights in the Vitalys Mines, so head to the Sunlit Plateau biome to investigate. Venture under the waterfall in this area to enter the mines. Chat with her once you’re inside, then put on the Masquerade Mask to search for more clues.
Follow the glowing tracks around the right side of the waterfall until you come across a glowing Night Thorn. Remove it to recover a Frozen Thorn, then return to Tiana near the entrance to chat about what you found.
Investigate the Ice Cavern for one more clue
Belle briefly saw the Here and There Spirit inside Elsa’s Ice Cavern, so venture to this location next. You can find Elsa’s home near the north end of the Forest of Valor biome, nestled between two ramps leading up to the Frosted Heights biome.
Chat with Belle once you’re inside, then put on the Masquerade Mask to start hunting for clues. Clear away more tracks until you find the last glowing Night Thorn, which drops a Frozen Book for you to pick up. Have a talk with Lumiere about the three strange items you found.
Investigate the secret chamber in the Frosted Heights
Venture into the secret chamber in the Frosted Heights biome to unravel more clues. This hidden area can be accessed through the glowing blue door located in the upper right corner of the snowy region. Clear away some more tracks in the chamber and pick up the Clay Paw Print near the portal. Remove the three Here and There Night Thorns that pop up, then have a chat with Lumiere about what you’ve learned.
Find the Book of Symbols in the Dark Castle’s first-floor library
Strange symbols have appeared in the secret chamber, so you now need to find the Book of Symbols in the Dark Castle’s first-floor library to decipher them. You can access the Dark Castle by heading through the purple portal by the wishing well in the Plaza.
Once you’re inside, head into the Dark Castle and make an immediate left to access the library. You’ll find the Book of Symbols on the ground, surrounded by bookshelves and stacks of books. Bring the book to Belle once you have it.
Gather the necessary materials for the Binding Spell
It’s time to execute a Binding Spell, but before you can do so, you need to gather the right materials for it. All of the items you need to progress are as follows.
- 12 Dream Shards
- 18 Here and There Debris
- One Clay Paw Print
- 20 Stone
- Three Crystals
Return to the secret chamber in the Frosted Heights biome once you have everything you need. Interact with Belle to give her the items and officially get the Binding Spell cast.
Use the crystals to rotate and match the symbols on the floor
The last step of this quest is the toughest, as you now need to solve a puzzle. There are three crystals placed on podiums around the Binding Spell, and you must interact with each one to rotate and match the symbols on the floor.
Your goal is to create three perfect lines of symbols, which can be done by interacting with each of the crystals to move specific pieces around. The best way to tackle this puzzle is by familiarizing yourself with each podium, as it gets easier once you know what each one does. If you’re stuck, though, here’s how many times I moved each one.
- I moved the first crystal podium on the left four times.
- I moved the second crystal podium in the middle one time.
- I moved the third crystal podium on the right two times.
As soon as the symbols are aligned, the Here and There spirit will appear. It’s a strange, glowing Fox, so talk to Lumiere about what you’ve learned and what to do next. Talking to him officially ends this quest, so you need to keep building your friendship with him to learn more about this mysterious critter.
