Floating on Sausalito’s famed waterfront is a quaint houseboat—with massive star power.
The 1,841-square-foot bobbing abode at 58 Liberty Dock was featured prominently in actress Jennifer Garner‘s hit 2023 AppleTV+ series, “The Last Thing He Told Me,” which also starred “Game of Thrones” actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
The limited series, which was based on Laura Dave’s bestselling novel of the same name, focused on Garner’s character, Hannah, her husband, Owen, and his daughter, Bailey, all of whom lived on the charming Sausalito houseboat in Northern California.
When Owen mysteriously disappears, Hannah sets out to find him—with the home serving as a much-needed sanctuary during that terrifying time.
The show drew over 3.4 million viewers during its premiere, and much of the series’ earliest scenes unfolded within the walls of this home, with the weathered-wood exterior, panoramic bay views, and lived-in charm perfectly capturing the spirit of Sausalito’s iconic houseboat community.
Now, that sanctuary is ready to sail into the future, with a new owner at the helm, having first been listed this past May for $3.4 million, before that price was cut to $2.99 million.
Rooted in the creative legacy of its surroundings, this houseboat is part of a history that long predates its recent fame.
“The docks have long been home to artists and musicians like Otis Redding, Dr. Hook, and Shel Silverstein, whose work echoed across the bay,” listing agent Blaze Nash, of Heath Real Estate, explains. “That legacy still lingers here, in a home designed for inspiration and immersed in light, texture, and sound.”
Today, that creative energy is evident in nearly every corner of the property, from its Douglas fir–framed living room to the glass-wrapped decks suspended over the bay.
“The home’s design encourages a life lived in constant dialogue with the water,” says Nash.
On the upper deck, infrared heating makes stargazing and waterfront dining a year-round possibility, while a Japanese-inspired soaking tub at water level turns bathing into a Zen experience.
A two-person gravity swing offers an idyllic perch for sunset cocktails with Bay Bridge views, while a lower-level deck provides an easy launch point for kayaks, paddleboards, and motorboats.
The interiors strike a balance between rustic coziness and refined modernity.
The soaring double-height living area opens to sweeping views of the bay, while the entire lower level is dedicated to a serene primary suite. In recent years, the two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home has also undergone a complete reimagining.
The kitchen now features custom cabinetry, energy-efficient appliances, and designer lighting, while the bathrooms have been transformed into spa retreats with high-end tile.
“Every system and surface has been updated with care, with refined finishes throughout that blend contemporary comfort with the home’s distinctive character,” says Nash.
Yet amid all the updates, vintage details remain—including the original 1970s double sink upstairs.
“It’s a nostalgic echo of the home’s creative heritage,” Nash adds.
The location is equally noteworthy. Liberty Dock is one of Sausalito’s most coveted addresses, offering a private setting that’s still near Bridgeway’s cafés, art studios, and ferry connections. Residents enjoy views of Mount Tamalpais and the San Francisco skyline, with the Golden Gate Bridge just minutes away.
“It’s coastal living with a city connection,” says Nash. “A uniquely Marin experience that blends natural beauty, creative heritage, and proximity to everything the Bay has to offer.”
