Odyssey S2S Tri-Hot Jailbird Putter Review: A putter that helps you roll it online, every time

I must confess I was extremely eager and excited to get my hands on this Odyssey putter. The Jailbird will have featured heavily on your TV screens over the years as it has been a very popular shape on tour. It is no stranger to success, that’s for sure. But is this square-to-square iteration the best Odyssey has developed yet? Well, to put it bluntly… yes! Let’s find out why with the full Odyssey S2S Tri-Hot Jailbird review…

Odyssey S2S Tri-Hot Jailbird Putter Review: Summary

NCG SUMMARY

The Odyssey S2S Tri-Hot Jailbird is the most complete and user-friendly zero-torque putter yet. With its clever weighting, improved looks, and new insert technology, it’s a genuine game-changer for golfers who want straight, stable putting without sacrificing feel or aesthetics.

PROS

  • Features a traditional, confidence-inspiring look
  • Consistent roll and pace control across the face
  • Premium feel

CONS

  • The heavier head may not be the best fit for golfers who prefer a more delicate touch on the greens

First Impressions

This is a part of Odyssey’s new Tri-Hot square-to-sqaure putter range. A line-up of putters I believe is going to convert many of those golfers who have previously been sceptical of S2S putters.

Visually, I think it’s faultless. In my view, I’d go as far as to say this is Odyssey’s best effort yet. Compared to other brands S2S putters this is a very inoffensive styling. Without meaning to sound derogatory of other sqaure-to-sqaure putters out there, but this doesn’t have a weird shape. It doesn’t sacrifice its looks in any way.

The black, red, and white alignment scheme makes squaring up effortless, while the crosshair alignment aid reinforces confidence over the ball. The pistol-style grip feels natural — no strange shapes or angles – and the black Stroke Lab 120 shaft adds a sleek, premium look.

On-course performance

From the first few rolls, the Tri-Hot Jailbird inspires confidence. It lines up naturally, delivers pure roll, and feels rock solid through impact. I tested this putter out in France, and I felt as though I had no issues keeping the face square. I found it really promoted a square-to-square stroke with effortless pace control, exactly what Odyssey set out to achieve.

Put simply, this is a putter that helps you roll it online, every time.

The big story is the multi-material head construction. Odyssey has used aluminium and steel to save weight in the rear of the putter, while adding a hefty 140g tungsten weight up near the face. This moves the centre of gravity forward and closer to the putter face, to allow the shaft to be set into the top line.

The result? It looks like a standard centre-shafted putter, but it retains all the performance benefits of zero-torque design. I’ve been a bit of a critic of the styling of some square-to-square putters so I’m a big fan of this reverting to type. They’ve knocked any of the weird, funky styling on the head, thankfully.

Odyssey’s new AI-designed dual-layer urethane insert is another standout feature. With a soft outer layer and firmer inner core, it creates a responsive yet consistent feel across the entire face. The variable thickness pattern helps maintain ball speeds, I found that this was the case across the face. A handy inclusion for distance control on long putts. This is a huge win for us club golfers.

NCG Verdict

The Odyssey S2S Tri-Hot Jailbird isn’t just another iteration — it’s a refinement that makes zero-torque putting accessible to everyone. It looks right, feels right, and performs beautifully.

If you’ve ever been tempted by face-balanced or torque-free designs but couldn’t live with the odd looks, this is the one that will finally win you over.

I do think you may see this used quite heavily on tour next season and it is certainly Odyssey’s best Jailbird yet.
