Jon Stewart: Trump no longer trying to justify 'random foreign aid' or 'let them eat cake optics'

Jon Stewart says President Trump will only work “tirelessly” for his donors and personal friends, accusing the commander in chief of not even attempting to defend “random foreign aid” or “let them eat cake optics.”

“We live in bizarro world,” Stewart said while hosting Monday’s “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central.

“The president of the United States is no longer even trying to justify random foreign aid, or blatant cryptocurrency corruption or ‘let them eat cake’ optics, all because ‘he loves us,'” Stewart said.

“It creates moments of such blatant irony that words almost fail,” he added.

The comedian noted Trump’s plan to boost imports of Argentinian beef after ripping rising meat prices in the U.S.

The “Daily Show” host also highlighted images and footage taken at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida during a “Great Gatsby”-themed Halloween event. The soiree was held as food stamp benefits were poised to run out for millions of Americans due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.

“‘The Great Gatsby’ is a cautionary tale,” Stewart said of the 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

“Usually in a time of national suffering, there’s a generally accepted principle of leadership that you at least pretend to feel the pain of the people that you represent,” the comic continued.

“But this president seems to go out of this way to let struggling Americans know that — your premiums may be going up, tariffs may be shutting down your small businesses, you may be losing your food assistance, but it’ll all be OK because Donald Trump is building a ballroom that looks like the inside of Marie Antoinette’s vagina,” Stewart said to applause.

Construction is underway on a $300 million ballroom at the White House, which Trump has said will be paid for through private donations. Trump’s plans for the ballroom involved completely leveling the building’s East Wing.

Stewart slammed Trump for repeatedly posting photos on social media of a newly renovated Lincoln Bathroom at the White House.

“I know what you’re thinking as your electricity bill skyrockets and they’re shutting off your heat: Will guests of this ballroom be able to s— in the marbled rooms? Well, the answer is yes,” Stewart quipped.

During his monologue, Stewart also knocked Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) description of the president as “big hearted.”

“For those of you who are wondering, during this delightful first year of the presidency, who the ‘you’ was that [Trump] was going to work so tirelessly for, it turns out he is for you if you are a personal friend, or if you donated a lot of money, or if you enriched his meme coin businesses, or you enriched his son’s crypto coin businesses,” Stewart said.

“Or if you beat up police officers on his behalf, or if you bought him a plane, or if you probably promised not to reveal anything incriminating about him,” Stewart said, as he showed a photo of Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

“Those are the ‘yous’ it turns out that he was for,” he said.

“And if you’re one of those ‘yous,’ life’s pretty sweet. But for the rest of us, we’re on the outside. And I can only guess what the view is that we’re going to enjoy,” Stewart said, while showing a snapshot of the Lincoln Bathroom.
