James Bond fans are convinced Lana Del Rey is behind theme for ‘007: First Light’ game

Lana Del Rey fans are convinced the singer has written the theme song for upcoming James Bond video game 007: First Light.

007: First Light was announced earlier this year with the new James Bond game created by IO Interactive, the team behind Hitman

Last month, it was confirmed Dexter: Original Sin’s Patrick Gibson would be taking on the role of James Bond. Priyanga Burford (M), Alastair Mackenzie (Q) and Kiera Lester (Miss Moneypenny) will also star alongside a crop of new characters including Noemie Nakia’s Miss Roth and Lennie James’ John Greenway, who’s described as Bond’s mentor.

Now fans believe Lana Rel Dey will perform the official theme song for 007: First Light. Over the weekend, it was discovered Del Rey had registered a new song with the American Society Of Composers, Authors And Publishers called ‘First Light’.

“Praying it’s for the new Bond game coming out in March. I’m looking forward to it but having Lana do the theme would just nail the coffin for me to purchase this game. I hope it’s true,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “As someone who grew up playing 007 video games and loves Lana, heck yeah! She has the perfect voice for this,” added another. “Literally the most based thing the devs could have done in terms of theme song, after she was snubbed years ago with ‘24’,” said a third.

007: First Light is due to launch March 27, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Last year, Lana Del Rey confirmed that she’d previously written a song for 2015’s Spectre, but creators went for Sam Smith’s ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ instead. “How has it not happened yet,” she said in an interview with the BBC about doing a Bond theme. “One day maybe, probably not. But I’m going to continue to do my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and just pretend that it’s the title track.” Radiohead also pitched a song for the Spectre soundtrack before giving the song away for free.

Lana Del Rey is currently gearing up to release the follow-up to 2023’s ‘Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’. The country-inspired ‘Stone’ is now expected to launch January 2026 after previously being delayed from May 2025 so Del Rey could add more songs. “They were more autobiographical than I thought, and that took more time,” she explained.

In other news, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach composer Ludvig Forsell has praised the “fun,” emotional” soundtrack of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
