Jaguars upset Chiefs behind 2 hilarious plays on Monday Night Football

Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season was filled with hilarious moments. In Sunday’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans alone, you had a fumble off the facemask of Kyler Murray following a shotgun snap, another player dropping the football short of the goal line leading to a touchback and not a touchdown, and an interception-turned-fumble-turned-offensive touchdown to help the Titans ultimately knock off the Cardinals for their first win.

But that was nothing compared to two moments from Monday Night Football, the second of which won the game for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars hosted the Kansas City Chiefs Monday night, with Patrick Mahomes and company at 2-2 and desperately needing a win. With a 14-point lead midway through the second quarter, the visitors had gotten off to the start they needed.

They then let a chance to extend that lead slip through their grasp. And by “their” we mean the bulk of the Kansas City secondary.

With Jacksonville facing a 1st-and-10 inside Chiefs’ territory, Trevor Lawrence looked in the direction of Tim Patrick after carrying out a run fake. The throw was just behind the Jaguars receiver, who deflected the football into the air, giving Kansas City perhaps the easiest interception possibility imaginable.

But the pass fell incomplete:

Three defenders — Trent McDuffie, Nick Bolton, and Drue Tranquill — got their hands on the football, but none of them could pull down the interception. Instead of Kansas City taking over possession with a 14-point lead and a chance to make it a three-score game, Jacksonville remained on offense.

And scored six plays later to cut the Chiefs’ advantage to seven.

That play might have swung some momentum in the game, but the other one won it.

Kareem Hunt’s plunge into the end zone from two yards out gave Kansas City a 28-24 lead with under two minutes remaining. But Harrison Butker’s ensuing kickoff sailed out of bounds, giving the Jaguars possession at the 40-yard line.

A pair of incredible throws on Jacksonville’s possession, including this dime to Brian Thomas Jr., moved the Jaguars deep into Kansas City territory:

A defensive pass interference call later in the drive wiped out what would have been a game-sealing interception, and gifted the Jaguars 1st-and-goal on the Kansas City 1-yard line.

That’s when this happened:

Lawrence trips after taking the snap from center and is down on the turf behind the Jacksonville offensive line. With the Jaguars out of timeouts and only 30 seconds remaining in the game, if he is touched down by any one of the Kansas City defenders, Jacksonville will be scrambling.

Instead, it is Lawrence who is scrambling. The Jacksonville QB manages to get up, break a tackle, and dive into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.

The moment even received the Art But Make It Sports treatment:

A fitting end to a hilarious weekend of NFL football.
