EXCLUSIVE: Emma Stone Finishes Renovations on Listed $23.5 Million Austin Mansion—as Photos Reveal Stunning Transformation of Home

Renovations on actress Emma Stone‘s extraordinary Texas mansion appear to have finally been completed—five months after she put the palatial pad on the market for $23.5 million.

New listing photos shared with Realtor.com® reveal that the “landmark” dwelling has undergone an incredible transformation since it was listed at the end of May, with once-bare rooms now filled with elegant finishes and picture-perfect wallpapers.

The 36-year-old “La La Land” star will no doubt be hoping that the overhaul will help her and husband Dave McGary to at last secure a buyer for the dwelling, which is pocket listed with local Austin, TX, agent Eric Moreland.

Stone and McGary spent a staggering four years carrying out work on the home, continuing construction even after they U-turned on their decision to move their family to the Lone Star State in favor of remaining in New York, where much of their work commitments are located.

When they listed the home in May, Moreland explained that, while the couple was still planning to relocate their family to Austin at some point in the future, they had decided it made more sense to continue living in New York, for now, because their work requires them to be in the city so regularly.

Images shared with the initial listing revealed that the dwelling was still undergoing work, with Moreland telling The Wall Street Journal that construction would continue while the home remained on the market and was expected to conclude by the end of summer.

Now, new photos reveal the extraordinary lengths Stone and McGary—who share a daughter, Louise, 4—have gone to restore the seven-bedroom property to its former glory.

In the kitchen, for example, elegant floral-embellished pink tiles now occupy the backsplash area, while a stunning dark wood-and-marble island takes center stage in the open-plan cooking space.

The kitchen leads into a dining space and living area with floor-to-ceiling windows that help to fill the bright and airy room with ample natural light.

Adding a cozy touch to that space is an elegant fireplace, while space for a media center has also been added.

“The interior is thoughtfully designed by the architects and expertly crafted by Koch Construction to reflect a respect for tradition, with exquisite millwork and luxurious details not often seen in today’s modern homes,” the listing notes.

“Herringbone oak and brick floors, creamy marble on fireplace surrounds and counters, and intricate leaded-glass windows are viewed through arched doorways to lend every space a sense of grace and elegance.

“Flooded with light, rooms feel both timeless and fresh. The expansive living and dining rooms offer space for refined entertaining on a large scale, complemented by intimate places for quiet conversation.”

In addition to the open-plan kitchen and living area, the home also boasts a wood-paneled library, a beautiful solarium, a playroom, and a screening room that comes complete with its own bar.

Head upstairs via the sweeping curved staircase and you will be met with several bedrooms, the pinnacle of which is the primary suite.

That space features its very own fireplace, as well as an enormous en-suite bathroom that has been decked out with moody burgundy tile and dark wood finishes, as well as an enormous soaking tub that takes center stage in the space.

The bathroom leads into a beautiful dressing room that has been given a feminine feel courtesy of pale floral wallpaper, while the walk-in closet is the epitome of luxury, featuring a seemingly endless array of storage options as well as an enormous mirrored wall to ensure each look can be scrutinized before it is showed off to the world.

Another of the nine full bathrooms in the home has a much lighter and brighter feel, featuring pale blue tile and white marble countertops, while the two powder rooms have both been filled with colorful and bold floral wallpapers.

While Stone and McGary never actually moved into the home, the new listing photos feature virtual staging to show a prospective buyer what the property might look like with elegant furniture in place.

Situated on a 1.24-acre parcel, the home’s exterior is almost as spectacular as its interior, offering elegantly landscaped gardens, including a special “fairy garden,” while a shimmering swimming pool provides the perfect place to cool down in the hot Texas weather.

“Extraordinary, newly restored estate in Austin’s most desirable neighborhood,” the listing says of the home. “Located in Tarrytown, one of the oldest enclaves in the city, this compound is surrounded by some of the city’s finest residences on an oak-shaded street.

“The sprawling grounds feature a lush landscape worthy of a country estate, including a cutting garden, fairy garden and plenty of lawn space on which to entertain and play. A screened breezeway offers protected outdoor living space overlooking the shimmering pool.

“This is a home that will stand the test of time, its refined design and meticulous craftsmanship providing shelter and joy for generations to come.”

Although the property is not currently listed on the MLS, it is understood to be the most expensive home currently on the market in Austin, with records indicating that there is just one other property currently available with an asking price of $20 million or more.

It seemed back in August that Stone and McGary might have found themselves a buyer, when the listing was updated to show that the property was “pending offer,” however that deal never closed.

Fortunately, Stone has experience in dealing with the ups and downs of the real estate market, having bought, renovated, and sold a fair few dwellings.

In 2024, she offloaded a picturesque compound in Los Angeles for more than $300,000 over her $3.99 million asking price, securing a buyer for the property just a few weeks after she listed it.

The actress had originally paid $2.3 million for the dwelling five years earlier, netting her quite the pretty profit on the sale.

That sale followed another very successful West Coast real estate deal that the actress secured for a midcentury modern abode in Malibu, which she listed for sale for $4.3 million—only to nab a buyer who purchased the property for more than $4.4 million.

However, Stone has had less luck in the Big Apple, where she took a loss on a West Village condo back in 2021.

The actress purchased the one-bedroom condo in 2016, paying $2.4 million. Two years later, the stylish space came on the market for $2.65 million, and then in 2019, its price was dropped to $2.49 million.

She eventually sold the space for $2.25 million in December 2021.
