All The Lifestyle, Wellbeing & Experience Picks R29 Loved In December

At least once a week — let’s face it, at least once every day — the writers and editors across Refinery29 discuss the latest and greatest products in our lives, from some cool new water bottle that’s been absolutely saving our lives to a state-of-the-art sleep product that’s changed our eight hours for the better. And gatekeeping isn’t in our vocabulary, so we’re here to share the wealth and highlight our favourite products, just for you, each month.

All linked products are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase any of these products, we may earn a commission.

At the end of last year I took a trip to Canada and found myself swimming in several beautiful lakes. Wearing a garnet one shoulder YouSwim bathing suit turned out to be a great choice. I must admit I was sceptical when the sizing said “one size” but the material is so stretchy and breathable it fitted like a glove. The garnet shade also suited my pale complexion, too. Going into 2026, I plan on wearing it to do more wild swimming, wherever that may be!

Does anyone really iron their clothes anymore? We are all living such fast paced lives that ironing my dress is the last thing on my to-do list. Enter: Steamery. Using distilled water or soft water (if you’re lucky to live in an area with some!), this trusty gadget literally steams away the creases on your clothing. It’s perfect if you want a quick job done right. Oh, and it comes in several colorways which is a fun touch.

Did I mention that I took a once in a lifetime style trip to Canada in 2025? I was away for nearly three weeks which truly felt like a luxury in itself. But three weeks away means packing a large suitcase! And so I did, thanks to my Carl Friedrick Large Check-In case. In a shade of black, it was ideal for a lengthy trip away and it feels light, too. I very rarely get a new suitcase, so when I do I opt for high quality, like this one, so it lasts a very long time.

This year, I’m trying my hand at strength training — and it’s really damn hard. I’ll do anything to make my workouts feel easier, including swapping my smelly iron weights for these bright pink ones. They’re non-slip, so I don’t have to worry about dropping them on my toes, and I actually want to pick them up every morning. Sing it with me now: I’m just a girl…

ProsourceFit Neoprene Dumbbells, Pair, $, available at Nordstrom

This smoking lips incense holder is part of L’Objet’s Valentine’s Day collection, and I knew immediately that I had to have it. L’Objet perfumes are stunning, but its home scents might be even better. The incense blends all of my favorite things — lipstick, caramel, and cognac — while the porcelain holder looks impossibly cool perched on a shelf.

With the days getting darker earlier, I often don’t make it out for my daily walk — but the walking pad makes it so much easier. My partner and I only just bought this, but we get so much use out of it that we often fight over turns! He hops on first thing in the morning to wake up, while I use it to stretch my legs after a day at my desk. If you live in a high-rise, though, I’d recommend grabbing a couple of yoga mats to absorb the impact on your floors (and your feet).

I’ve officially succumbed to #plannerTok and have been shopping for all the stationery tools to help keep me organized in 2026, including a new Hobonichi planner and new pens. I think I’ve found my holy grail pen with the Pentel EnerGel Clena in the 0.3 tip. After being a Muji pen faithful for years, I just love how smooth, neat, and super-fine my writing is with this EnerGel pen. Now I need to stock up on all the colors, tips, and fun designs

In the spirit of getting organized, I’ve also started cleaning up the many files and folders on my laptop and removing anything unnecessary in my day-to-day with this portable hard drive. Did I originally buy this drive because it was purple? Yes, I did. But it’s great since it holds up to 1TB of data and it’s super fast at transferring all my images and documents. Bonus, it’s small and cute.

As one of the movies with lots of awards season buzz Hamnet has been on my radar for the past couple of months. Before seeing the film, I wanted to read the book written by Maggie O’Farrell, which is a fictionalized account of the short life of William Shakespeare’s son Hamnet. I’m currently only a third of the way through the book but was instantly drawn in from chapter one. The myth-like descriptions of Shakespeare’s wife Agnes in the book are compelling and has left me even more excited to see actress Jessie Buckley take on the role on the big screen.

As I settle in for the next few months of cold winter weather, I’ve been on the lookout for a new blanket to cozy up under during the dark nights. I’ve been an admirer of Danish brand Tekla’s products for a while, but this is my first time buying anything from them. I was specifically looking for a quality wool blanket that is going to last a long time, so I think it is worth the investment.

One of my goals for 2026 is to bake more vegan treats for my loved ones. This winter, I’m starting with the coziest sweet course of all: muffins. I’m having a lot of fun with Caraway’s 12-Cup Muffin Pan. It’s non-toxic, non-stick ceramic bakeware that makes baking desserts a bit easier for someone who rarely opens the oven. I’ve already made scrumptious banana-nut muffins, and I hope to spoil my guests with an assortment of treats I’ll bake with this pan during my Bridgerton watch party later in January.

Last year was a rough one, a stormy one you could even say, so it’s important for me to start 2026 with a mindset that, like nature, I will be more refreshed and vibrant after all that downpour. To help set the mood in my home, I’m lighting Caroline Francis’ Horizon After the Rain candle. Notes of lavender, eucalyptus, oat milk, cedar, and musk come together to fill my place with an aroma that smells and feels like the very welcomed first day after a storm.

I’m completely obsessed with the idea of making my laundry smell amazing, and this DedCool detergent has vanilla and sweet rice milk that’s so comforting.

DedCool Dedtergent Mochi Milk, $, available at Dedcool

I’ve hopped on the red light therapy train. I love this Shark mask because it has cooling pads for under your eyes that feel amazing. It also makes a tangible difference when it comes to depuffing your face, too.

Shark Shark CryoGlow Red Blue & Infrared iQLED Face Mask, $, available at Shark

Nothing elevates a desk space quite like flowers, am I right? I’m finding with the right vase, you don’t actually need to work so hard. Simply placing a single bud in an elevated vase goes a very long way. This pewter bud vase looks striking with two stems of lilies.

Match Match Bud Vase, $, available at Match
