Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Confirm Romance—as Fate of $30 Million Mansions She Shared With Orlando Bloom Remains Unclear

Pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have made their first official appearance as a couple—stepping out hand in hand at a cabaret show in Paris, where they celebrated the songstress’ birthday.

The “Firework” hitmaker, who turned 41 on Oct. 25, and Trudeau, 53, first sparked dating rumors in July, when they were seen enjoying a meal together in Montreal, just one month after it was revealed that Perry had split from her fiancé, Orlando Bloom.

At the time, neither party commented on the rumors of a budding romance—however those rumors now appear to have been cemented as lore after the duo was seen strolling out of the infamous Crazy Horse Paris, where they had been celebrating Perry’s birthday, according to TMZ.

Images taken of the couple show them both beaming from ear-to-ear, with Perry looking every inch the chart-topping icon in a figure-hugging red dress, while Trudeau donned an all-black suit.

Their appearance comes just three months after they were first photographed together at Canadian hot spot Le Violon, where they enjoyed several cocktails and delicious-sounding dishes.

According to TMZ, the couple met with the chef following their dinner and were so delighted that they even went back to the kitchen to thank the staff.

Security guards kept a watchful eye on the duo through the glass as they leaned in for conversation and enjoyed their meal.

The confirmation of their relationship comes mere months after it was revealed that Perry and Bloom, 48, called it quits after nine years together.

Bloom, who shares a daughter, Daisy Dove, with Perry, later broke his silence on their separation, telling “Today” host Craig Melvin during a September interview that everything between them is “great.”

“I’m great, man. I’m so grateful,” he said when asked how he was holding up in the wake of the “personal changes” in his life.

“We have the most beautiful daughter. You know when you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie? I feel grateful for all of it.”

His comments came after insiders shared some insight into Perry and Bloom’s plans for co-parenting their 5-year-old daughter, claiming that the former couple are aiming to remain completely “amicable” for the sake of their child.

“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”

“They are still very much in touch and co-parenting Daisy together,” a second insider added, noting that Bloom and Perry are both planning to continue residing in Montecito, CA, in a bid to ensure that Daisy’s life is as unaffected by their split as possible.

“They aren’t making drastic changes for Daisy’s sake. They will keep their lives in Montecito. They are prioritizing stability and consistency for Daisy,” the unnamed source added.

The couple began dating in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes after-party, where they fought over an In ‘N’ Out burger, the singer previously revealed during an episode of “American Idol.”

Should Perry’s relationship with Trudeau continue to blossom, this will likely raise questions about where the duo might base themselves in the future.

Trudeau, who split from his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, in August 2023, shared three children with his estranged spouse, all of whom are currently said to be living with their mother in Montreal.

In the wake of the Trudeaus’ split, it was reported that the children would reside with their mom—but that their father would see them regularly, with a spokesperson for the former Prime Minister saying: “Both parents will be a constant presence in their children’s lives and Canadians can expect to often see the family together.”

Meanwhile Perry’s life is centered largely around Montecito, where she and Bloom snapped up two separate megamansions within a matter of months—one of which has been undergoing major renovations since they purchased it for $14.2 million in 2020.

It’s unclear who will take on full ownership of the property; however, records seen by Realtor.com®  indicate that only Perry’s name is currently on the deed.

As for their other home—which is located just a six-minute drive away—it’s understood that neither Bloom nor Perry are currently occupying it, with reports suggesting that it has been leased to another A-list couple: Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger.

According to the Daily Mail, the duo moved into Perry’s home earlier in the summer and are planning to remain there until work is completed on their own custom megamansion in Brentwood.

The home in question has been at the center of a number of controversies—and was the source of a furious legal battle between Perry and the home’s former owner, veteran Carl Westcott.

Perry became engaged in a bitter real estate spat with Westcott in 2020, when she struck a deal to buy the Montecito home for $15 million—only for the entrepreneur to back out just days later, claiming he had been under the influence of painkillers when he agreed to the sale.

However, Perry’s representatives argued that Westcott, a business mogul who founded 1-800-Flowers, had been of sound mind when he agreed to the deal and that he wanted to back out only because he hadn’t been able to find an alternative Montecito property to his liking or budget.

Their yearslong legal battle was finally resolved in December 2023, when a judge ruled in Perry’s favor and ordered that the original sale contract—which was arranged via the pop star’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi—should be upheld.

Perry is currently on the European leg of her Lifetimes Tour, which is due to continue through December, with additional dates already scheduled for the summer of 2026.

That case took yet another twist in August, when Perry took to the stand in another legal trial against Westcoot, in which she was seeking millions of dollars in damages and confirmed that Bloom is the real owner of the property, not her.

In her 55-minute testimony, which was frequently interrupted by objections from her lawyer, Perry confirmed a courtroom revelation from her business partner that it was Bloom who held the title to the Santa Barbara County property through the limited liability company DDoveB, named after the former couple’s daughter.

“So when title to the house was transferred as a result of this lawsuit, it never went to you or any entity you control, isn’t that true?” asked attorney Andrew Thomas, representing the home’s former owner asked the singer.

“Yes, sir,” replied Perry, adding that DDoveB was one of Bloom’s several limited liability companies.

When asked by Thomas what she stood to gain from the outcome of the trial, Perry shot back: “Justice.”

“How about money,” Thomas questioned. “Do you stand to make any money from the outcome of this litigation?”

“I stand to lose money if it doesn’t work in my favor,” said Perry.

Perry admitted that she contributed no funds when Bloom’s company purchased the house in 2024 and that her role in the home’s remodeling was limited to being a “partner and adviser.”

The celebrity witness elaborated further on her participation in the renovation, saying that she saw “pictures and videos” of the work being done but took no active part in it.

Pressed to explain how she advised Bloom on the remodeling, Perry said: “I said he should hire people that would do a good job.”

She went on to confirm that the Montecito home was being rented out—but declined to identify the tenants, citing privacy concerns.
