Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season is already here and we’ll be treated to an NFC East showdown on Thursday night featuring the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the New York Giants. Philly enters as a 7.5-point road favorite, with an over/under of 40.5. Both of these teams are looking to bounce back on a short week after losing their respective games this past Sunday.
Below, we will take a look at the best DFS plays for this Thursday night showdown.
Captain’s Picks
Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles (FLEX $13,600, CPT $20,400)
Hurts is the highest priced player in this week’s and he’s been a strong DFS add with an average of 20.8 fantasy points per game so far this season. Last year’s Super Bowl MVP had a solid stat line in the team’s 21-17 loss to the Broncos this past Sunday, throwing for 280 yards and two touchdowns in the setback.
Whether it’s not passing the ball enough or passing too much down the stretch, the Eagles appear to be going through an identity crisis on offense in the early stages of the season. However, that has not effected the veteran QB individually and regardless of their approach, he’ll remain a captain-worthy add in DFS.
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles (FLEX $13,000, CPT $19,500)
Barkley was productive in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos, totaling 30 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards, and a third-quarter touchdown reception that gave Philly a 17-3 lead early in the third quarter. However, he had just one carry throughout the entire second half, resulting in the fewest touches in a game where he didn’t leave with an injury in his entire career.
The reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year hasn’t been as explosive as he was during his 2,000-yard campaign last season, but he has a chance to shine on a Thursday night like he usually does. Through five career Thursday night appearances, Barkley has averaged 86.4 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, and a touchdown. Facing off against a vulnerable Giants defense, I’m definitely giving him some consideration for a captain’s spot.
Cam Skattebo, RB, New York Giants (FLEX $11,000, CPT $16,500)
Skattebo is putting together a solid rookie campaign and the volume of touches that he’s getting has already made him a centerpiece of the Giants’ offense. Last week’s 26-14 road loss to the Saints was a perfect example of this as he toted the rock 15 times on the ground for 59 rushing yards, also hauling in six of seven targets for 45 receiving yards in the setback.
The rookie out of Arizona State will be matched up against an Eagles run defense hasn’t been all that hot through five games as the unit has a -0.2 rushing EPA and has also given up 634 total yards on the ground. There’s an opportunity here for Skattebo to have himself a strong performance and he could even provide value for those who decide to make him their captain.
Value flex plays
Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants (FLEX $5,800, CPT $8,700)
New York will have another important offensive piece back in the lineup with Tracy returning after missing two weeks of action with a shoulder injury. He recorded 22 carries and 13 carries through three games prior to his injury, so the second-year player was a key piece of the team’s offensive gameplan even with the presence of Skattebo. The Eagles’ struggles against the run could present him with some cracks at big runs and he could even find the end zone at some point.
Theo Johnson, TE, New York Giants (FLEX $5,200, CPT $7,800)
The continuing progression of Johnson was one of the few positives to come out of Sunday’s loss as he finished as he caught six of seven targets for 33 yards and two touchdowns. That strong performance marked three trips to the end zone in two weeks for the second-year player from Canada the chances for him to score is definitely there as he ranks in the top 10 in routes run among tight ends with 149. He could be a savvy Flex play for DFS managers, especially if Dart hunts for him in the red zone.
Jahan Dotson, WR, Philadelphia Eagles (FLEX $4,800, $7,200)
Dotson made a minor impact for the Eagles in last Sunday’s to the Broncos, catching just one of three targets for 24 yards. If the Eagles do stick with trying to expand the passing game in this one, there could potentially be more targets for him in the primetime contest. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to put him in your lineups as a cheap flier option.
