Ed Sheeran’s net worth: The “Play” singer’s wealth as his new album drops

Among the pantheon of pop greats, Ed Sheeran stands apart in terms of sheer musical ability—not only does he write and record his own songs; he also loops in his own guitar, percussion, and harmonizing vocals to effectively create a one-man band.

Then again, Sheeran isn’t your typical pop star.

With his shaggy red hair and laid-back fashion sense, Sheeran eschews typical pop star glamour in favor of something more authentic.

Sheeran comes across as a relatable, down-to-earth guy because, well, that’s just who he is. Getting his start in music as a teenager busking on London’s streets while sleeping on friend’s couches, by age 19, his uploaded videos to the British Internet channel SB.TV and, later, YouTube, earned the whole world’s attention.

Sheeran’s ability to reach deep inside people with his heartfelt, often vulnerable lyrics helped him amass a serious fortune by age 30. But even though he’s sold over 200 million records, earned four Grammys, and ranks as the third most-followed artist on Spotify, Sheeran still shops at his local Tesco, loves Heinz Ketchup, and considers his young family his biggest priority.

With the September 12, 2025, release of his eighth studio album, “Play,” Sheeran again takes center stage, this time blending the pop ballads he’s known for with Asian and hip-hop beats to create what he calls a colorful and “more nostalgic” sound than his previous efforts.

“Play” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, and Sheeran’s latest concert tour will begin in December 2025. And if it’s anything like his previous tours, Sheeran will be adding even more zeros to his bottom line shortly.

So, just what’s Ed Sheeran’s net worth now?

What is Ed Sheeran’s net worth in 2025?

While sources differ as to the magnitude of Sheeran’s wealth, everyone agrees on one thing: This Brit has made a lot of money.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Ed Sheeran’s estimated net worth in 2025 is $350 million.

The UK’s The Sun pinpoints his wealth even higher, at $400 million: Not bad, as they note, for someone who didn’t think they could sing “at all” when they were younger.

Celebrity Net Worth states that Sheeran “easily” earns between $70 and $100 million in years when he’s touring—and he’s been on five already, so you can see how that really adds up.

In fact, Sheeran’s “Divide Tour,” which consisted of more than 250 shows between 2017 and 2019, grossed an astounding $776 million, placing it among the top five biggest concert tours in history in terms of ticket sales.

Ed Sheeran’s early life and music career

Edward Christopher Sheeran was born on February 17, 1991, in Halifax, West Yorkshire and grew up in Suffolk, England. His parents were creatives—his father, John, was a curator and lecturer, while his mother, Imogen, worked as a jewelry designer.

The family struggled through the financial crisis of 2007–2008, but art always remained a priority. Sheeran has one older brother, Matthew, who himself is an award-winning film and TV composer.

While Sheeran’s interest in music blossomed, school was often the last thing on his mind, and he admitted to British GQ that his Dad was hard on him at times; however he also noted that his Dad was the first to drive him to the concerts that inspired his songwriting.

In 2009, Sheeran enrolled as a student at the Academy of Contemporary Music, but he left within the year to start touring, first supporting the hip-hop artist Just Jack and later with other British musicians Leddra Chapman, CeeLo Green, and Example.

In 2010, Sheeran posted a video for “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” on entrepreneur Jamal Edwards’ internet music channel, SB.TV—and this was seen as a pivotal point in his music career, as it helped Sheeran gain significant exposure as well as land a deal with Atlantic Records.

American actor Jamie Foxx is also credited with helping to launch Sheeran’s international stardom. After watching Sheeran perform at an open mic night in Los Angeles, Foxx was so impressed that he invited the singer to stay in his home and make use of his recording studio.

But while Sheeran penned a song about the era entitled “Homeless,” he later clarified that he wasn’t actually destitute. Rather, he slept on his friends’ couches while performing wherever he could—and that often meant singing on London’s streets for spare change.

Ed Sheeran’s discography

With the launch of “Play,” Sheeran has recorded eight studio albums, two compilation albums, 17 EPs (several independently), and 56 singles.

Bolstered by the interest surrounding “The A Team” and “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You,” Sheeran’s first studio album sold more than four million copies and peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200. In the album’s singles, Sheeran experimented with R&B and acoustic musical styles, although the singer considers its overall sound to be cohesive.

Sheeran’s next effort peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 and was the most-streamed album of 2014. It contained several hits: “Sing,” “Don’t,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “Bloodstream (with Rudimental)” and “Photograph.”

Sheeran showcased an evolving style with this effort, one that moved away from straight acoustic melodies and embraced more neo-soul and funk rhythms.

“÷ Divide:” 2017

Sheeran’s most commercially successful album achieved 56.73 million streams on Spotify on the day it was released. Just two days after its release, videos for the songs “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” had been viewed more than one billion times on YouTube.

“No. 6 Collaborations Project:” 2019

The follow-up to the EP Sheeran recorded before he got big, 2011’s “No. 5 Collaborations Project,” the pop star said he had been wanting to record a collaborative album with all of his favorite artists, including Chance the Rapper, Khalid, Chris Stapleton, Cardi B, and Camila Cabello.

“I Don’t Care,” recorded with Justin Bieber, peaked at #1 on the Billboard 100.

“= Equals:” 2021

Sheeran’s next album, “Equals,” encompassed a softer sound, albeit with plenty of R&B and New Wave influences. Sheeran himself considered this to be his coming-of-age album, recorded during a time when he had gotten married, had a child, and lost a friend and mentor, Michael Gudinski, to whom Sheeran dedicated the album’s single “Visiting Hours.”

Taylor Swift appeared on the track “The Joker and The Queen,” while the single “Bad Habits” reached #2 on the Billboard 100.

“-Subtract:” 2023

Returning to his acoustic roots, Sheeran’s 2023 album was hailed by The Telegraph as “a fluid, emotional, anxious and atmospheric album of therapeutic self-healing,” and likened Sheeran to Bob Dylan.

The album itself served as a tribute to his friend and the man who discovered him, Jamal Edwards, who had died in 2022 from cardiac arrest after taking a combination of cocaine and alcohol.

That same year, during Sheeran’s wife Cherry’s second pregnancy, it was revealed that she had a cancerous tumor. After delivering their second child, Cherry underwent surgery to successfully remove the tumor, and she is cancer-free today.

However, Sheeran entered a deep depression at the time, revealing to Rolling Stone that he no longer wanted to live, but his friends and family encouraged him to seek therapy.

“Subtract” peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200.

“Autumn Variations:” 2023

Sheeran’s second album of 2023 was an extension of his response to the many changes he and his friends were facing, and as the singer told Variety, “After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded.”

Naturally, the songwriter expressed his feelings in lyrics, which helped him come to terms with his grief. The album reached the #4 spot on the Billboard 200.

Ed Sheeran’s business ventures

As a lifelong fan of Heinz Ketchup, Sheeran even has a tattoo of the brand’s logo on his right arm—and, in turn, the company celebrated Sheeran’s ink on a limited-edition bottle of the condiment in honor of the brand’s 150th anniversary.

More on millionaire musicians:

In addition, Sheeran is an avid follower of soccer and a minority shareholder in the Ipswich Town FC.

Sheeran also launched his own record label, Gingerbreadman Records, in 2015. He primarily releases his own music through this label as well as the music of other artists he believes in, such as Maisie Peters, Jamie Lawson, and Foy Vance.

Ed Sheeran’s charities

In January 2025, the singer launched The Ed Sheeran Foundation, which aims to address cuts in music education in British curricula and support and fund music education initiatives. The foundation provides instruments and equipment to schools and community centers to encourage young people to play. It also offers free studio time, lessons, and mentorship from leading musicians.

Ed Sheeran’s personal life

Sheeran was in a relationship with Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt from 2011–2012. She also appeared in his video for “Drunk” and is the subject of his songs “Nina” and “Photograph.”

Sheeran has also dated tour manager Athina Andrelos, who currently works for British Chef Jamie Oliver. Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” is rumored to be about her.

In 2015, Sheeran began dating his childhood friend Cherry Seaborn, who inspired his song “Perfect.” They became engaged in 2018 and married in 2019. They have two daughters: Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran (born in 2020) and Jupiter (b. 2022).

Ed Sheeran’s real estate portfolio

According to Architectural Digest, in 2012, Sheeran bought an extensive, 16-acre compound in his hometown of Suffolk, England, that included a $1.2 million farmhouse and a $600,000 home next door dating back to the 16th century. He later added another farmhouse for $1.25 million, a $708,000 cottage, and an additional home for an undisclosed amount after his neighbor complained about the noise his renovations were making.

The property has its own pond, chapel, crypt, and even a pub, with Sheeran explaining to Call Her Daddy‘s Alex Cooper that he found it and purchased it after seeing it listed on eBay.

The sprawling Suffolk property is considered Sheeran’s main residence, but he also owns a lake house outside of Nashville, Tennessee, where he records most of his music and a villa in Umbria, Italy, whose prices remain undisclosed.

In addition, in 2018, Sheeran purchased an eight-bedroom mansion in the Notting Hill neighborhood of London for $27 million, which was the setting for his music video “Put It All On Me.” Sheeran also owns a beach house in Kent, England, that was purchased for slightly under $1 million, as well as a $12 million pierhouse in Brooklyn, New York.
