NFL’s 2-0 teams, ranked by how much they should be trusted

After two weeks of NFL action, the 1972 Miami Dolphins still have the champagne on ice.

Ten teams have yet to lose, and enter Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season with a 2-0 record.

But how much do we trust those undefeated teams? Not all 2-0 records are created equal.

Here is how we rank the ten 2-0 teams as we look ahead to Week 3.

10. Cincinnati Bengals

There is nothing convincing about the Cincinnati Bengals this season. Kudos to them for getting the job done and getting to 2-0, but barely squeaking past the Browns and Jaguars isn’t a vote of confidence — and that’s before we get to the injury to Joe Burrow.

Ignored amid their start is how godawful the offense has been outside of Ja’Marr Chase. The team ranks 23rd in the NFL in net yards-per attempt, despite having the most talented skill position group in the NFL, they’re the worst rushing team in the league, and have a 28th ranked pass defense.

The fall is coming very quickly and without Burrow it wouldn’t be surprising if the bulk of the Bengals wins this season have already happened.

9. Indianapolis Colts

It comes down to how much you believe in Daniel Jones long term — and that’s why the Colts are 9th on this list. It’s been a fun Cinderella story, but there’s nothing about this that really feels sustainable. Read our story on how Jones’ improved play has helped the Colts’ surprising start.

8. Arizona Cardinals

There’s some definite hype around Arizona this season, but that ignores the obvious reality that nobody has had a softer start to the season than the Cardinals. Facing the Saints and Panthers is like skydiving from a plane that already landed, and to their credit they’ve won — but only by a single score in each outing, and they almost fell into a complacency trap against Carolina who almost mounted a comeback.

Defensively the team looks pretty good, but on offense things are still questionable. Kyler Murray and Co. haven’t done enough against two soft pass defenses to have a lot of faith in them to perform against the better teams in the league, and the NFC West is shaping up to be brutal.

7. San Francisco 49ers

The injury bug has hit the San Francisco 49ers hard already this season, particularly on the offensive side of the football. Brock Purdy missed Week 2 as he deals with a toe and shoulder injury, George Kittle was placed on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury, and Brandon Aiyuk continues to work his way back from last season’s knee injury.

Then this week Kyle Juszczyk was placed in the concussion protocol, Jauan Jennings suffered an ankle injury, Ben Bartch was hit with a high ankle sprain and “will be out for a while” according to Kyle Shanahan, and Spencer Burford suffered a knee injury.

They might be undefeated, but the injuries are starting to pile up.

6. Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are 2-0, thanks to a hard-fought win over the Houston Texans and Sunday’s victory over the Tennessee Titans.

While a pair of wins over two teams yet to win a game might not inspire confidence, given how good the Texans defense looks, that first win is notable.

But there are some potential cracks beneath the surface. Through two games the Rams offense looks rather one-dimensional, particularly in the low red zone. Against the Titans, the Rams had four possessions where they got inside the Tennessee 10-yard line, and settled for a field goal on two of those drives. Over their two games, the Rams have struggled to run the ball in the low red zone, picking up just 12 yards on nine rushing attempts in that area of the field.

Being able to finish off drives will give us more confidence in this team going forward.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 2-0, having won both games in dramatic fashion. They survived in Week 1 when Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo missed a 44-yard field goal in the closing seconds that might have sent the game to overtime. Then on Monday night Baker Mayfield engineered a game-winning drive in the final minutes against the Houston Texans, as the Buccaneers won by a final score of 20-19.

Either the Buccaneers are really lucky, or really good.

Right now we are leaning toward the latter, but not by much.

4. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are a dark horse this season and they’re only being held back due to the injury to Rashawn Slater. It’s a testament to their coaching and chemistry that they’re 2-0 at this point and racked up two important division wins.

Justin Herbert is routinely left out of the “best QB” discussion because he hasn’t proven much when it matters, but those excuses tend to be a bit of east coast bias and the fact people haven’t really paid attention to how the Chargers are playing. This is not a perfect team by any stretch of the imagination, but Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen are easily good enough to be factors, and the defense has quietly become one of the best in the NFL when it comes to points allowed.

This team is an embodiment of Jim Harbaugh. They’re tough, determined, and find ways to win. That’s what it requires to be a playoff team.

3. Green Bay Packers

There is a case to be made that the Green Bay Packers should be at the top of the list. They dismantled the Detroit Lions in Week 1, and turned around on a short week to stifle Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders in Week 2. Two impressive wins over teams that made the playoffs a season ago.

Jordan Love is off to a hot start. Tight end Tucker Kraft looks like he will be a problem for opposing defenses. And speaking of problems, Micah Parsons looks like he was worth everything the Packers gave up to acquire him the trade with the Dallas Cowboys.

So why aren’t the Packers ranked higher? That comes down to the fact that there are two teams that have made deeper playoff runs before, ranked ahead of them.

2. Buffalo Bills

A dramatic comeback win in Week 1 over a Super Bowl contender, and then a dominant performance in Week 2 against a division rival

Not a bad way to start the season for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. And now they get the 0-2 Miami Dolphins on a short week, a game against a team that is headed in the exact opposite direction.

We are just two games in but the Bills look like the class of the AFC.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

They’re the Philadelphia Eagles. You win the Super Bowl you earn the right for a lot of benefit of the doubt. Most would admit the run game isn’t nearly as potent as last year, and the offensive line isn’t as dominant — but none of that matters because the entire NFL has seemingly taken a step backwards this season.

Philly is still an incredible team without many weaknesses, and they’ve beaten two teams who could very well make the playoffs when it’s all said and done. It’s going to be a big season for the Eagles once more, and the best team in the NFC isn’t slowing down any time soon.
